Serra High Prom 2011

For our last Prom of the season, we went to the Bahia Hotel & Resort for Serra High School’s Prom 2011. I’ve had the opportunity to DJ at the Bahia dozens of times for Point Loma, Bishop’s School and earlier this school year for La Jolla Country Day‘s Homecoming and I always enjoy the spectacular view through the windows in back of the ball room. This was our fourth dance this year for Serra High and the Juniors and Seniors came ready to dance. I played a variety of Top 40, Hip-Hop, Meringue, Electro and Techno for the crowd to keep the floor packed all night long. I ended the night with some old school Pop throwbacks which brought a great close to a fun evening. We look forward to working with the ASB next year for all of their dances and congratulations to all of the graduating Seniors. Please enjoy the highlight video I created below especially for Serra’s Prom 2011! – J. Soul

Francis Parker Prom 2011

When I first saw this venue a couple of months ago during a walk-through with Francis Parker School ASB Advisor Marc and ASB President Emily, I was blown away. The San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art is currently featuring an exhibit called Madame Curie” by Jennifer Steinkamp. The exhibit is a moving projection of a piece of art and is absolutely breathtaking. It didn’t surprise me that a great school like Parker would choose this location to hold their Prom and I was so honored to be a part of it. The kids were all bussed in after enjoying dinner at San Diego’s hottest nightspot, Stingaree and the party began as soon as they entered the room. I played a mix of Top 40, Hip-Hop, Electro, Techno and even some classic throwbacks to keep the dance floor packed the entire night. I even got Principal Paul Barsky in on the fun and as the video shows you below, he had a blast dancing during and at the end of the dance. At 10:30 Paul came up and announced the Prom King and Queen and they shared a special dance in the middle of the floor. After that we danced until the very last second bringing an awesome close to an awesome night. This is my third straight year of DJing for Francis Parker and I can not wait to return next year for the fourth. – J. Soul

Kearny High School Prom 2011

Loews Coronado Bay Resort was transformed into Morocco on Saturday, May 21st as Kearny High School held their Moroccan-themed Prom. I was the DJ/MC along with Jordan who helped out with capturing some of the video footage from this amazing event. We set up 15 feet of Truss with intelligent lighting and LED ambient lighting as well as ambient up-lighting around the room to help add to their theme. The crowd was so hype and was danced the entire time to Top 40, Hip Hop, Techno, Electro and even some Latin music. This was a great way to kick off our relationship with Kearny High School and thanks to Jeslynn Mendoza and ASB Advisor Lisa McCall for working with us to make this night a screaming success. Patrick Henry Prom 2011

We went under the sea with Patrick Henry High School on Saturday night. Along with DJ Mike-E, we had the distinct pleasure of being the DJ and MC team for Prom 2011 held at The Westin Gaslamp in the heart of downtown San Diego. From the moment the dance started, it was hype! Mike kept the dance floor packed with Top 40, Hip Hop, Electro, Techno, House and even some Latin music and I was on the mic keeping those hands up in the air. We can’t wait to see Patrick Henry again next year for their Welcome Back dance as well as all of their dances next year, and we thank Dr. Crowder and Mr. Miller for the opportunity. Enjoy the video compilation below! – MC Lyrik

La Jolla Country Day School Prom 2011

We blew the roof off…literally…at the Prom of a Local Private School on Saturday, May 14th. The celebration was held at The Bristol Hotel downtown and this marks my fourth time performing at this amazing venue. It is one of my favorite venues because of how nice the staff is there and because of the unique feature of the top floor ballroom — the roof opens up. And after about an hour of dancing, the staff opened up the roof and the Juniors and Seniors went NUTS! It was an epic night and I’m so fortunate to have been the resident DJ for this school’s dances this year. Congratulations to all of the Seniors and enjoy the highlight video below! 🙂

Alpha Epsilon Phi Party

What a busy weekend! Saturday night was the party for Alpha Epsilon Phi and I had the pleasure of being their DJ and MC. It was held at the Hilton Garden Inn and I played a variety of music from Top 40, Electro, House and some throwbacks. The guests were so much fun and thanks to Amber Brown and AEP for everything! Patrick Henry Winter Formal 2011

Our third dance for Patrick Henry High School this year was our best one yet! It was held at the La Jolla Marriott and along with our good friend DJ Touch and our newest addition to the J. Soul Productions family, MC Lyrik. We provided intelligent dance floor lighting, sound and one of our custom LED facades. The administration and kids at Patrick Henry were extremely happy with how the dance went and we can’t wait to be back for Prom in May! 🙂

Serra High Winter Formal 2011

For the third time this year, we had the opportunity to DJ for Serra High School. This time it was for their Winter Formal which was held at The Hall of Champions in Balboa Park. This was my third time in the past almost 4 years DJing a dance at this venue and I worked along Ron Blazovic who does the lighting there. We brought in our custom-made LED facade to add an extra ambiance to the already amazing lighting and decor at the Hall of Champions and it definitely gave our stage a great feel. The theme of the dance was “Moonlit Mardi Gras” and the wonderful ASB at Serra High did a nice job of decorating with purple, gold and green to fit the theme. My dancers DJ Dev and Joey Mac were in attendance as well as the latest addition to the J. Soul Productions family, MC Lyrik. We had an amazing time and can’t wait to return to Serra in a few months to DJ their Prom 2011! 🙂

Tri-School 2011

Every other year, three local private schools hold a joint dance called “Tri-School” and I have had the distinct honor of DJing this event in 2009 as well as this year. The ASB students from Francis Parker School, La Jolla Country Day School and Bishops School all chose the San Diego Ice Arena as the venue for this huge celebration. There were about 600 kids in attendance, some who were ice skating, but it was my goal to get most of them upstairs in the party room where I was DJing. My dancers DJ Dev and Joey Mac helped to get the party going with a little help from the newest addition to the J. Soul Productions family, MC Lyrik. The lighting was all courtesy of the San Diego Ice Arena and we provided the sound and one of our custom-built LED DJ facades. This was an amazing event and we can not wait to return for Tri-School 2013! Our thanks go out to the ASB from each school as well as the wonderful staff at the Ice Arena. Please enjoy the photos and highlight video below! 🙂

La Jolla Country Day School Homecoming 2010

A local private school added a little bit of mystery and suspense to their Homecoming this year with their “James Bond” themed dance. It was held at the Bahia Resort Hotel and was a very classy affair. The Homecoming drew in about 340 kids which is one of the largest turn outs that the school has had in recent years and I kept them dancing with the latest Top 40, Hip Hop, Techno, Electro and throwbacks. What an amazing crowd, as always, and I can’t wait to see them again at Tri-School in February! Thanks to the ASB for putting on a night to remember! 🙂
